"PEE MAK" TOPS ALL-TIME THAI MOVIE BOX OFFICE IN SINGAPORE

PEE MAK has done himself proud again, this time in Singapore! After grossing remarkable results in Thailand and Hong Kong, PEE MAK collected a fantastic SGD$768,000 at the local box office as of 2 July, since the movie opened with 15 screens on 13 June 2013. The box office results puts PEE MAK as the Number 1 grossing Thai movie in Singapore over the past 5 years, beating Thai horrors including COMING SOON which collected SGD $757,000 in 2009 and PHOBIA 2 which collected SGD $759,000 the same year.

This also puts PEE MAK at the 2nd spot in the all-time top grossing Thai movies chart in Singapore. The renowned classic Thai horror SHUTTER still tops the chart when it collected SGD$1.3 million in 2004.

PEE MAK is still showing in selected Golden Village Cinemas.

"PEE MAK" CONTINUES TO DO "HIMSELF" PROUD ASIA-WIDE!

GMM Tai Hub (GTH), the established Thai film production company, is happy to announce that PEE MAK has become Thailand’s highest-grossing movie of all time, collecting more than US$ 33 million at the box office with more than 10 million admissions since it opened earlier this year on 26 March!

The movie not only did itself proud domestically, it also performed fantastically in Hong Kong! As of yesterday, 4th June, PEE MAK collected HKD $7.8 million (about SGD $1.3 million), which is more than USD $1 million after the theatrical release for less than 3 weeks!

PEE MAK will also be showing, for the first time, in 4D when it opens in Taiwan on 26 June! The Taiwan movie distributor is converting the movie using Korea CJ’s 4DX technology for its one and only 4D cinema in Taipei. PEE MAK is the 2nd movie opening in Taiwan with a 4D version after Hollywood blockbuster, MAN OF STEEL.

PEE MAK, which also stars the popular Mario Maurer from The Love Of Siam, is a spin-off from the well-known Thai movie NANG NAK, tells a legendary story of Pee Mak and his ghost wife Nak. During beginning of Rattanakosin Dynasty, many Thai men were drafted to serve war. Mak was no exception and had to leave his pregnant wife Nak to join the fight. When war was over, Mak invited his four best friends who he bonded during war to visit his home town and introduced his beautiful wife to them. However there was a rumor that Mak’s wife Nak had died giving birth to her stillborn baby. Is Nak really dead or was it just a rumor? How will Mak choose in the end between reality and love?

PEE MAK opens island-wide in Singapore on 13 June, with special sneaks from 7 to 9 June. PEE MAK is produced by GTH TAI HUB and distributed by Golden Village pictures in Singapore.
