CLOVER FILMS unveils impressive slate of movies for the second half of 2012 - PART I

Easily one of Singapore's leading independent production and distribution films, Clover Films has unveiled its latest slate of movies for the second half of 2012 consisting of 7 homegrown productions and 10 acquired titles. Media were invited to a special presentation for this, demonstrating their confidence at an impressive list of movies with big name stars such as Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Andy Lau, Ekin Cheng as well as our local talents Jack Neo, Henry Thia, and Fiona Xie. 

Speaking at the specially hosted press event, Mr Lim Teck, Managing Director and founder of Clover Films, conveyed his confidence in each one of the titles and their ability to offer something for everyone. Indeed, the slate comprises of a variety of genres from action to comedy to romance to horror, again emphasising the company's determination to offer local audiences greater choice at the cinemas.

And without further ado, here is the list of local movies that you can look forward to beginning Aug:

Greedy Ghost (贪心鬼见鬼) - Opening 8 Aug

Synopsis: Lim struggles to make ends meet until he chanced upon the ‘Wordless Script’ one day and won lottery! Unwilling to return to his poor days, he approaches the ‘Wordless Script’ for winning numbers again. This time, the Book-Spirit forewarns Lim that he will have to pay a heavy price, should he want big winnings. Blinded by greed, Lim agrees to the terms…

Imperfect (我们都不完美) - Opening 30 Aug

Synopsis: Jianhao, Zach and Square are good buddies. One day, Zach suggested that they join an influential triad boss for income and protection. Things took a bad turn when Zach injured Alex, the only son of the ruthless triad leader (Guodong) of a rival clan. He vowed to avenge his son, forcing the trio to go into hiding.

My Dog Dou Dou (我的狗蚪蚪) - Opening 20 Sept

Synopsis: This is a warm, feel-good fantasy-action drama about a gambler father, his estranged son, and how a dog with predictive powers brings them closer together. Through their ups and downs, the father, Meng, discovers the meaning of altruistic love and loyalty, and the son, Xing, finally finds the father he has always been looking for.

Golden Couple (金童玉女) - Opening Sept/ Oct


Synopsis: Spark is a guy with good income and a promising future in the advertising industry. He meets Wenxin whom he tries hard to court. His liabilities soon pile and he was forced to sell his assets. Things took a turn for worse when he could not afford to pay his debts.

Ah Boys to Men (新兵正传) - Opening 8th Nov


Synopsis: “Ah Boys to Men” focuses on the theme of the definitive path for all young men in Singapore: National Service (NS). This will be Singapore’s first military themed film in 10 years and is especially apt at this time as it coincides with the 45th year of NS in our country.

Inside the Urn (鬼仔) - Opening 29th Nov


Synopsis: Unable to come to terms with the death of her mother, Kim suddenly has to deal with a new mother in her life. Strange incidents start to occur at the family home when she arrives in Singapore. Could it be the jealous spirit of Choon’s dead wife that has come back to show her displeasure of being replaced? What unravels is a tale of unspeakable evil.

The Wedding Diary II (结婚那件事之后) - Opening February 2013

Synopsis: In this sequel to the box office hit ‘The Wedding Diary’, the same cast come together once more to tell the story after Weijie and Zhixin got married. You can expect more laughter and tears from this movie.
