FUNG HARK-ON (冯克安) (1950 - 2016)
Veteran HK action star and choreographer Fung Hark-On has passed away of cancer at the age of 66. He might not have an instant recognizable name but fans of Hong Kong action cinema probably will know him from classic Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung movies such as Police Story and Dragons Forever.
Born into a family of eleven children, Fung started his career way back in the fifties as a child star and his sister is another renowned actress Fung Bo Bo. It was not until the seventies that Fung started to venture into being a stuntman and action choreographer.
Because of his villainous looks, Fung is often cast as a thug though he was not usually cast as the leading man, he was often a presence in HK action movies. His more memorable supporting roles in recent times ought to be the blind assassin in Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle and a fellow kung fu master in Ip Man 2.
We salute Fung’s contribution to the HK action scene. May he rest in peace.
