Giant Minion Invades Singapore for the First Time at The Cathay

A minion from the popular animated film Despicable Me has made a larger-than-life entrance into The Cathay, literally. It is the first time Singapore has seen an adorable minion in such scale – at six metres, the height of the giant minion encompasses two floors of the mall.

This first and only giant minion in Singapore is jointly introduced by Cathay Organisation and United International Pictures to welcome the upcoming sequel Despicable Me 2, opening in Singapore on 4 July 2013. The iconic giant minion will be on display at The Cathay from now till 5 July, followed by Cathay Cineleisure Orchard from 8 July to 28 July 2013.

The giant minion looks set to be a popular photo spot for Despicable Me fans as well as shoppers and movie-goers at the Cathay malls, especially during the ongoing school holidays.

10 pairs of premiere tickets to be given out on Instagram

To spread the minion love, Cathay Organisation will be giving away 10 pairs of movie tickets to the premiere of Despicable Me 2 via an Instagram contest. Interested participants are encouraged to take photos of themselves with the giant minion at The Cathay, upload the photos onto Instagram, tagging @CathayLifestyle as well as other hashtags including #CathayLifestyle, #TheCathay, #DespicableMe2 and #MinionInvasion. The five photos with the most ‘Likes’ and five other randomly selected photos will be announced as the contest winners. The premiere of Despicable Me 2 will be held on 25 June 2013 at The Cathay Cineplex.
