Well-reviewed Chinese New Year war-movie OPERATION RED SEA outperforms itself during its 2nd week of release at the cinemas! The movie recorded a 42% increase for its 2nd weekend box office. Despite strong competition from other Chinese New Year films and its high classification rating of M18, OPERATION RED SEA has collected $385,000 as of yesterday.
Besides its encouraging performance in Singapore, OPERATION RED SEA has also broke several records in China. It has already surpassed DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 2, MONSTER HUNT 2 and MONKEY KING 3: KINGDOM OF WOMAN and is currently taking the No.1 position at box office chart in China during this Chinese New Year period. The movie has collected an astounding RMB $2.4 billion which equates to approximately SGD $509 million till date.
Directed by renowned Hong Kong director Dante Lam, starring Zhang Yi, Huang Jingyu, Hai Qing, Du Jiang, with special appearance by Zhang Han Yu. The movie tells the story of the Commando Navy Assault Team. They were faced with even more challenges after their success in rescuing a cargo ship hijacked by pirates off the Somalia coast. Will they be able to conquer the mission when faced with fiercer terrorist activities?
