In conjunction with Singapore's 46th National Day, over 50 Smurf figurines have been exclusively designed by our local celebrities, radio personalities and overseas artistes. The list of participating celebrities include Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, Tay Ping Hui, Elvin Ng, Joanne Peh, Felicia Chin, Nat Ho, Jade Seah, Qi Yu Wu, Joi Chua, Derrick Hoh, Kit Chan, Olivia Ong, Jessica Liu, Bryan Wong, Chua Enlai, Dick Lee, and more. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) have also rallied students and alumni to join in this project. These figurines, 3 apples tall, are the actual size of the Smurfs character. They came all white and participants were free to design, colour and embellish them in celebration of National Day. Here are some of the completed designs by our creative celebrities.
These specially designed figurines will be unveiled on Sunday, 7 August 2011 at Bugis Junction, at 2pm. Event will be held at the water fountain area (in front of Starbucks/McDonalds). Hosted by The Muttons from 98.7FM, the unveiling event will be graced by some of our contributing celebrities. Smurf fans will also have the chance to pose for a picture with Clumsy Smurf, Smurfette and Papa Smurf mascots at the photo area.
A total of 90 figurines will then be exhibited at Bugis Junction for a month, 7 August till 9 September 2011. During this time, a silent auction will take place. Members of the public are encouraged to submit bids for their favourite designs, via email to [email protected]
