You have heard a lot about a movie that is showing in Singaporecinemas. You want to find out more about the male lead and who he is dating now. You want to check whether the female lead has endorsed any fashion labels recently. Or you may simply want to check which theatre is screening it, and how much it costs to watch it on a weekend.
What do you do? Turn to Google, of course.
Can you imagine life without the worldwide web? The Internet has the answer to everything, and Google Search has become our best friend.
Google has presented Year in Search 2017 which looks at some of the year’s top trending topics that had Singaporeans turning to Google for answers. The results are based on over one trillion search queries Google receives each year, are rely on anonymized, aggregated counts of how often certain search queries occur over time.
Here’s a look at the top 10 trending movies of 2017.
Our take: “Brimming with hope, heart and humanity, ‘Wonder Woman’ is funny, moving and breath-taking all at once, and lives up to the hyperbole of its character’s name by being simply the best DCEU movie by far”
Our take: “An entertaining movie that is safe enough for the family (that gay moment is really quite discreet) but just don’t expect it to be as magical as the original version”
Our take: “Fun, amusing, charming, thrilling and with moments of unexpected poignancy, 'Justice League' kicks off the league of DC superheroes on a rousing high”
Our take: “Not your average superhero action film, Logandelves deep into the titular character’s psyche on the last of his heroic journeys. Don’t miss this chance to say farewell to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in theatres”
Our take: “Loud, over-the-top and utterly nonsensical, but also inventively conceived and impeccably executed, this latest 'Fast and Furious' chapter is everything fans want to see - and have come to love - about the franchise”
Our take: “Experience and get fully immersed in the horror and hope of war through Nolan's unapologetically epic war movie”
Our take: “The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is fun from beginning to end - definitely a breath of fresh air from overly serious superhero movies”
Our take: “Warm, funny and poignant, 'IT' is a beautifully told story of the joys, confusions and fears of childhood, and therefore better at being a classic Stephen King coming-of-age tale than a supernatural horror”
Our take: “Incoherent plot developments and devices fall flat, along with tired character profiles and theories. The focus is off and the dark universe future stays murky”
Our take: “Like the poetic android’s many experimental hybrids, this story is the same - disappointingly lifeless”
