Best known for playing General Thaddeus Ross in the MCU movies, the Oscar-winning actor William Hurt has died at the age of 71 of natural causes.
Hurt started his acting career with stage productions before landing his first major film role with 1980’s “Altered States”. He won his first Oscar in 1986 with his performance in Héctor Babenco’s “Kiss of the Spider Woman and earned a fourth Academy Award nomination for his supporting performance as a crime boss in David Cronenberg’s “A History of Violence”.
The actor revealed in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer though he remained prolific on television and on the big screen.
RIP Mr Hurt.
