Synopsis
:
A documentarian
funds a NYC doorman's Asian mail order bride in exchange for
the right to film the experience. But when Lichi arrives in
America, she finds herself married to a recluse with a penchant
for sadistic sexual role-playing. Objectivity flies out the
window when she and the filmmaker become involved. Twists
and turns are plentiful in this tragi-comic love triangle
where all is not what it seems

Review:
A movie shot in documentary style; not without the benefits
for the adopted executing method - lower production cost and
manageable audience’s expectation. It was indeed a well
made decision.
Though
the movie is about one and a half hour, the length can be
felt. To retain the audience’s attention span, the movie
could be edited to a feature that is slightly over an hour.
All
roles were well depicted; Andrew and Adrian could have very
well been playing themselves. Eugenia Yuan gave another stunning
performance. She played a desperate mail order bride who was
willing to go through almost anything, including cuddling
with a snake and pornography, to get the citizenship. However,
she is not as simple minded as assumed. Her character would
have fritter away much of the sympathy marks, the way she
squandered her allowances on pig ornaments, by the end of
the movie.
The
ruler measuring movie and documentary never comes quite equal.
Do not come to this show, expecting interviews or mind boggling
statistics, this is a movie documentary offering a triangle-love
storyline and …yes… babies-and-pigs-craze shrieking
scenes.
