Synopsis:
A SEASON FOR LOVE chronicles the lives of four very different
couples as they deal with love, loss and life in romantic,
loosely interconnected stories -- A 30-year-old fire-fighter
looking for just the right ring for his fiancée; A
long-term relationship between a guy who cannot find a job
and a wonderful and long suffering woman who is beginning
to tire of their relationship; An 8-year-old boy who desperately
misses his career-minded mother; A deaf girl with a terrible
burn on her face falls in love with a painter, dreaming of
a perfect love. All of these situations are filled with heartache
and sometimes despair, but like love, it comes in many forms.
In many ways, love must end for it to begin again.
Movie Review:
Sin Min-ah, previously seen in “A Bittersweet Life”,
had outperformed herself as a deaf girl, who had a liking
for a painter/artist at her workplace. She worked in Everland
amusement park as a moving marcot, keeping her handicap in
disguise and safely unknown from him. Till that final day
she has summoned the courage to face and reveal her to him
truthfully. Those scenes with her were usually peppered with
lightness and humor, bringing in the laughter.
Im
Soo-jung, who starred in the movie as her elder beloved sister,
shared a few well-crafted scenes. Audience can sense their
sisterly closeness and be touched by the speechless affection.
Jung
Woo-sung, as her future brother-in-law, was not expertise
in sign language, so his attempts to decipher them and relay
back with his own sign gestures were absolutely hilarious.
Bet most might find Jung unfamiliar. Surprise fact. He was
none other than that quiet, longhaired slave-who-turned-out
to be a valiant fighter in “Musa”, protecting
Zhang Ziyi’s character then. Here he still fights, not
with people but the vicious blazes. A competent fire-fighter
at work, however, at love frontline, he is as much as his
girlfriend, learning to be more verbally expressive towards
each other. Would the day she has been waiting for him to
propose to her eventually come?
Simultaneously,
there is a pitiful chap, who has been unemployed for a period
of time, earns a paltry amount by being a temporary human
sandbag. His relationship with her girlfriend is inevitably
affected. Cha Tae-hyun, far from his usual roles with carefree
spirit and slapstick humor, impressed us with this serious
tough-luck guy. He comes up with an unusual solution for anyone
who wants to initiate a break up. Guess?
We
witnessed the power and the various facades of love through
the characters in the movie. Love also exists and is quintessential
in a child-parent relationship. To be more wholesome, the
4th couple is actually about a young boy and his mother. Love
is renewed only upon understanding and the realization of
the little time left. This Korean child actor, like his other
peers, did it again by successfully touching the audience
dearly. Get your tissues ready.
With
our beloved ones, may we Cherish every moment, Live each day.
Follow resoundingly through this principle in the daily briskness
of life. Nothing is to be taken granted.
Had
there not been any unintentional misses of chances in the
forerun, regrets won’t follow suit at the heels. Follow
your heartstrings.
